• J-STD-001, Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies, has emerged as the preeminent authority for electronics assembly manufacturing. The standard describes materials, methods and verification criteria for producing high quality soldered interconnections. The standard emphasizes process control and sets industry-consensus requirements for a broad range of electronic products.

The news was announced on August 3 in Austin, Texas, during NIWeek 2015, the annual global conference on graphical system design.

A key to achieving maximum value from automated test equipment based upon PXI, is using the same instrumentation with interchangeable mechanics to test multiple products. MAC Panel’s APEX hybrid connector with combinational contact-pin support reduces costs-of-test with its flexible configuration capability. The APEX hybrid delivers a modular cabled mass interconnect that handles electrical signals from DC to RF, and suited for high connector-reinsertion environments found in high-volume product test. Long-life adaptable contact-pin interconnect maximizes equipment re-use while minimizing costs because the same connector can be used in a variety of applications.

Mass interconnect and fixturing allows the same PXI based instrumentation to test multiple products. MAC Panel SCOUT utilizes fully enclosed PCBs or fixed-wire enclosures mounted to the front of PXI modules to mitigate capacitance, signal crosstalk and other attenuation issues that plague conventional cable based ATE. In the past, ATE systems required a receiver with mating connectors to mount cabled mass interconnect. With SCOUT direct connect, APEX based connectors mount direct to DAKs, eliminating unnecessary subassemblies.
