PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation (PXI) modular instrumentation delivers a rugged, PC-based, and high-performance measurement and automation system. With PXI you benefit from the low cost, performance, and flexibility of the latest PC technology and the benefits of an open industry standard. PXI combines standard PC technology from the CompactPCIª specification with integrated timing and triggering to deliver a rugged platform with up to a 10X performance improvement over older architectures. PXI has become the industry standard for measurement and automation applications.
PXI has seen rapid adoption over the last six years and is used in all market segments where measurement, control, or automation is required.
From advanced research, military and aerospace, consumer electronics, and communication, to process control and industrial automation PXI is being selected as the platform of choice for thousands of applications.
As the chart to the right illustrates, PXI is expected to sustain it's rapid growth rate over the next 3-5 years and is forecasted to reach nearly $1 billion in annual revenues by 2015.
As the PXI platform continues to dominate new ATE system build, MAC Panel continues to develop new and innovative connectivity solutions specifically for PXI.
The SCOUT family of products is the only solution that has been purpose designed to maximize the performance potential of the PXI instrument platform. SCOUT has been designed to reduce or completely eliminate wiring between ATE and a UUT.
All PXI instruments are easily installed or removed through the front of the receiver, without disturbing the system wiring. Adapters (DAKs) utilize standard MAC Panel Series connector modules, providing a wide variety of contact types, with signal, power, coax, RF and hybrid combinations available. The connection between the PXI instrument and receiver module is accomplished using either printed circuit boards or flex circuits, providing optimum connectivity performance while reducing wiring cost. Where a wired solution is preferred, the DAK adapter provides for a short wire alternative to traditional hinged mass interconnect receiver design.
